🪶 Welcome to The Scripted Sanctuary 🪶
A curated safe space where we share our self-expression through the art of playwriting.
This isn’t just a group for playwrights. It’s a relaxed space where you can explore your emotions and worldview through the art of playwriting. This isn’t merely a hobby to start and stop; instead, you’ll gain a new tool for self-reflection with the support of others. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your community, and the world through guided meetings and workshops.
Everyone has a unique perspective and interprets their point of view in a different way. We welcome the dreamers, overthinkers, go-getters, and the imaginative souls. If you have thoughts and feelings, we invite you to join this circle with open arms.
The major event of our group is our low-cost seasonal meetup centered around an emotion or cultural event.
These 4-hour meetups include:
Opening Theme Question + Discussion
Writing Exercise w/ Random Genre
Scriptwriting
Peer Review Session
You will leave each meetup stronger and more connected than before ✨✨
Why Playwriting?
Playwriting might seem like an outdated skill in a world where theater has little relevance compared to film. However, playwriting remains powerful because it involves expressing strong emotions on paper that can be vividly brought to life on stage. Think about conversations you've had. What made that talk enjoyable enough to listen to for a long time? If one of your answers involves how you feel, then you are on the right track to understanding that words and actions are the carriers of emotions. Playwrights must consider the emotions their words and stage actions express to support their vision.
What emotions do your words express? How do your feelings or perspective show within you? Playwriting can be a fun way to gain insight into yourself and explore your worldview.

A Little Bit About Me
Hello! I'm Aiyasia, and I’m in my twenties, living in Atlanta. I’m exploring new and exciting ways to navigate adulthood. Currently, I’m studying to become a medical examiner, but I also have a heartfelt passion for playwriting. I minored in playwriting during college, which was a refreshing break from all my science classes. My journey with playwriting started earlier in high school when I was involved in theater and loved telling stories through plays. One of my proudest moments was writing my own play called The Signs, which won a Regional Scholastic Award and was featured at the SCAD exhibition.
Why Did I Start Scripted Sanctuary?
When I graduated, I wondered where I could apply playwriting in my life. I thought to myself that I wouldn't mind teaching the skills I've learned, because they've helped me. I dreamt of having a playwriting class geared towards teenagers to help them process their emotions during a confusing time in their lives. So, I decided to conduct a test class with my friends to refine my teaching approach.
However, the feedback at the end of the class revealed a need I hadn’t realized was there—a community centered around a hobby for young adults to process their own emotions.
I received feedback like:
~ “I appreciated learning a new, imaginative way to express my emotions but also to “see” more of other people and how they expressed theirs.”
This event pushed me beyond the usual limits of what playwriting can achieve. I am starting this group to share my passion for playwriting and to create a space where people can connect and experience different worldviews!
